Chelsea Cunningham was truly at the right place at the right time, and because of that was able to save a two-year old girl who had fallen into a septic tank. Cunningham is a Canadian native and was visiting Mesa, Arizona with her family to escape Canada’s freezing temperatures. She was near a convenience store when she heard people screaming for help. Apparently the toddler was walking behind a convenience store with her mother when she fell into a septic tank. One man tried unsuccessfully to save her but a second man was able to get the young girl out.
Cunningham says that she is not a medical professional at all but her family always made it clear that basic first aid and CPR training was very important. Chelsea immediately ran over, calmly took over, and started CPR on the girl. By the time paramedics arrived, the girl started breathing again. Says Chelsea of the incident, “She just looked done,” Cunningham said. “But she wasn’t done. She had lots left in her I guess and we just had to get it out.”
