Jeff Eshbaugh, 48, went on his usual morning run when he went into cardiac arrest and collapsed. Larry Black was on his way to work when he spotted Eshbaugh lying on the ground. Black said he normally he didn’t drive to work but that day, he decided to drive and go a different route, and it’s remarkable and an amazing coincidence that he decided to. And perhaps in an even more stunning coincidence, Black had just taken a CPR course the previous day, and knew immediately what he had to do to help Eshbaugh. He rushed over and began CPR compressions.
Eshbaugh made a full recovery and was even able to meet Black a few weeks later and thank him for saving his life.
““I think everybody should know (CPR). Hopefully you won’t ever have to use it but if you need to you’ll be confident that you can,” said Black.
Larry Black is a hero and a testament to how getting trained in CPR is important. You could save anyone’s life at any time.
