Ross McClintock was driving home after a run when he went into cardiac arrest. Chuck Fessler was driving behind him when McClintock’s car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. Fessler got out of his car and checked on McClintock. He could see that McClintock was obviously struggling to breathe, so Fessler acted quickly. He pulled McClintock out of the car and onto the grass, and immediately began CPR while a neighbor dialed 911. Three more citizens arrived on the scene to assist; two of whom were registered nurses.
A rescue crew arrived and took McClintock to the hospital. He made a full recovery and was fitted with an internal defibrillator and a pacemaker.
Weeks later, McClintock was able to go to a luncheon to meet the medics and good Samaritans that saved his life.
This was an incredible story of community members, trained in CPR, and how they were able to save the life of a stranger.
