Officer Josh May, of Chattanooga, is being hailed as a hero after he saved the life of 9-month old who stopped breathing. The child’s father, Shawn Curtis, said his son began to have difficulty breathing and started to turn blue in the face. He immediately dialed 911, where May was the responding officer. While the child’s small size made CPR a little risky, May said this was still a routine case of resuscitation and immediately began compressions, just like he had been trained to do.
The child began breathing several minutes after May’s life-saving CPR, and was promptly taken to the hospital for further testing. Curtis said that his son had always had breathing problems, but not this serious. Regardless, he is incredibly thankful to Officer May for saving his son’s life.
