Sixty-six year old Rick Hendrickson of Oslo, Minnesota went outside to check on his grandson, who was shoveling snow off of the driveway and sidewalk when the next thing he remembers is falling to the ground. His grandson frantically waved down a mail truck that was passing by. In it was 29-year old Jake Craik, who happened to be filling in for someone on that particular route that day. Another fortunate coincidence? Craik is CPR certified. Craik immediately began performing CPR on Hendrickson until the ambulance arrived.
Hendrickson was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered a plugged artery. They were able to fix it and Hendrickson spent 11 days in the hospital, making a full recovery. He says he is very much looking forward to meeting Craik again and thanking him for saving his life.
