A male teacher at The Overlake School in Redmond, Washington, is alive thanks to the efforts of his co-workers. The 54-year old man went into cardiac arrest while teaching his usual 9:30am music class. Students cried out for help, and several teachers nearby responded, including the health teacher, who actually teaches CPR and AED classes at the school. A medical response team arrived shortly after the teachers revived their co-worker.
“This is the model that demonstrates how communities can come together to save a life”, read the City of Redmond Fire Department press release. And while the teachers at Overlake had never seen someone in cardiac arrest or ever had to use CPR before, they were still able to keep calm and ultimately save the life of one of their own.
